Web Version 5.01 is compatible with Internet Explorer 8
Warning! SRB recommends that users not upgrade to IE 8 at this time if possible. IE 8 contains significant changes in how html is rendered making it incompatible with many websites. However, if it cannot be avoided, then IE 8 must be set to run in compatibility mode to avoid significant issues with SRB’s web software. SRB has modified our web products to increase compatibility with IE 8 but you still may experience intermittent issues. Microsoft is continuing to release updates to IE 8 which may trigger further compatibility problems for our web solutions.
Compatibility mode can be turned on in 2 ways:
- Tools -> Compatibility View Settings – check “Display all websites in Compatibility View”. This will display all websites in compatibility view ( Recommended )
- Go to the portal URL, select Tools -> Compatibility View – this will set compatibility view on this site only.
(#1 above is the preferred method to ensure the full site and links from the site work as intended.)

IE 8 Technical Notes:
The warning that IE 8 is not a compatible Browser has been removed. Changes to accommodate IE 8 include formatting changes to improve centering and display of pages, and changes to some applications that use the “onload event” in the body tag, which, it was found, IE 8 was not firing with consistency, and various other changes to try to improve the rendering of pages in IE 8.
Note that IE 8 is still relatively new and reports note slowness, connection problems and rendering pages inconsistently with other browsers. We recommend avoiding upgrading to IE 8 if possible. If that is not possible, running in compatibility mode will have better results.
Firefox is now a supported Browser
Firefox has been added as a supported browser and has had better results than IE 8. However, the Security Builder application and the SNPS applications require Internet Explorer to run.
