Web Platform News
SRB West stopped installing new Linux and Macintosh servers in June 2007 but has continued to support a small minority of existing installations. As published in our product roadmap in Spring of last year and again at the User’s Group, next generation products will leverage and integrate with Microsoft .Net technologies and will require a server running a Microsoft Windows operating system.

10-Digit Dialing for BC & Alberta Coming June 2008!
This is a reminder that starting June 23rd-June 28th, a "permissive dialing period" will be in place. Any time a call is placed you will hear a pre-recorded message reminding you to use 10-digit dialing the next time you make a call (note: will not apply to BC Lower Mainland customers as they are already dialing 10-digits) .
There is a potential for problems when any SRB dialing software receives these messages (ie ADS and PO Faxing software). It is highly recommended, that your software be upgraded before June 23rd to accommodate these pre-recorded messages.
Be proactive & contact Trish Holly to implement these changes today!!

Support
Summer vacations are quickly approaching. Currently SRB staff "out-of-office" messages do not go out to our customers. This is a default setting of our mail server and is considered a “best practice” to help control SPAM.
How does this impact our customers? You might try to contact one of our employees directly for support via email. They might be on vacation but you won't be aware of this because you won't receive the "out-of office" message.
For the months of June, July and August the assured way for getting assistance is to log your request via our website or to phone our office directly.
Sales
SRB West sales staff will be unavailable from July 14th – to August 22nd. Please ensure that any purchase orders for new products reach our office before July 14th to be considered for the 2008 fall schedule. Orders that are placed after July 14th will be considered for installation in 2009.

Criminal Record Tracking/Reporting Solution
We have started researching solutions for Criminal Record Check Submission/Tracking/Reporting to comply with the new mandatory BC Education requirement that every employee be re-checked every 5 years.
We are awaiting clarification on the requirements for data and responsibilities of the School Districts from the Criminal Records Review Program and will schedule a conference call with BC districts to discuss our proposed solution once we have this information.
To expedite this process we would appreciate if you could forward any information you have already been given regarding program requirements to Louise Kadlecik.

Internet Explorer 8.0
The 2008 Web software release will NOT be certified on Internet Explorer 8.0. Version 8 has only been released in BETA, meaning there will be many changes as bugs and functionality flaws are addressed.
In addition, Version 8 is significantly different from Version 7 so our software will require programming changes to work with it. We will certify our 2009 Web software release to run on IE 8.0.
Please advise your employees not to install IE 8.0 on their work or home computers if they use them to access web programs like Absence Entry.
Manulife - one of your benefit providers?
